The Sidmouth Golf Croquet team got off to a good start against East Dorset last Saturday with Philip Harris/Pam Bowra and Marian Harris/Keith Thorley both winning their doubles games, writes Mike Taylor
Unfortunately for Sidmouth, the early singles went East Dorset’s way leaving the score 5.5 to 2.5 at lunch.
Sidmouth rallied in the afternoon with strong performances from John Coombes, who achieved two draws, and Margaret Piper, Muriel Philpott and Anne Reece who won their games.
After a very hard-fought match, the final result of East Dorset 11.5 to Sidmouth’s 8.5 was a very creditable performance by Sidmouth on their first visit to the East Dorset Club at Poole.
