Sidmouth Croquet Club held their first competition this season for club members.
The competition was a light-hearted, friendly one-ball competition, part of a countrywide event, in aid of Myeloma UK.
Twenty-four players took part and used the event to refresh their skills and socialise with other members after the winter break.
The day was also the Queen’s birthday so the players, at lunch time, raised a toast Her Majesty.
Play continued in a jovial atmosphere in the afternoon and £150 was raised for the charity.
Most players played seven games, with Julie Horsley and Richard Thurlow each winning six of theirs.
Equal third were Peter Nelson, Graeme Pryor, John Coombes and Kelvin Dent who all won five games.
Everybody enjoyed the day and thanks were expressed to Julie Horsley for managing the competition and Julie Sorrell for arranging the bunting and the provision of the sparkling wine.
