Golf Croquet Doubles Tournaments

The two annual Golf Croquet Doubles Tournaments were held over Thursday 13th and Friday 14th August.

First came the Cunningham Cup and Salver handicap tournament where members were allowed to select their playing partner. Two blocks of six pairs each playing four matches were closely fought but the teams of Roz and Paul Bradley and defending champions Philip Harris and Richard Abrahams came out on top to take part in the final. It was Roz and Paul, using their handicap advantage to good effect, who were victorious winning the tournament for the third time.  (see photos)

On the Friday the Peak and Salcombe Hill Cups were at stake in a level play tournament where players were paired up through a random draw matching a low handicapper with a high handicapper. Once again each pair played four matches and after many closely fought games the pairings of Steve Pearson and David Williamson and Steve Marsh and Marcus Husbands made it to the final. Steve and David came out on top to take the trophies. It was Steve Pearson's fourth win and each time with a different partner.

Congratulations to the winners and runners-up.

Everyone coped well with the heat to enjoy two days of competitive but friendly croquet.  I hope we can tempt some newer members to take part next year.
