Ian and Euan Burridge completed gruelling sequence of a game of golf croquet at 21 different croquet clubs in the space of five days last week, writes Colin Walls.
Their aim was to raise funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research after a family member underwent successful treatment for Leukaemia in the first half of 2012 which really makes you appreciate the importance of research and its power to change lives.
The pair came to Sidmouth having won 15 of their 26 games, but came up against stiff opposition in the shape of Ian Friedlander and Pamela Bowra, who won 7-4, 7-3 respectively.
Euan was downcast about the result, but father and son are winning the fundraising battle and have raised around £5,000 so far, with a useful contribution from Sidmouth Croquet Club.
